Becoming All Things

Becoming All Things
April 14th, 2026
There’s a subtle shift that happens in conversations.
You stop listening…
and start waiting.
Waiting for your turn.
Waiting to respond.
Waiting to correct.
And people can feel it.
That’s why so many conversations never go anywhere deep.
Paul took a different approach:
“I have become all things to all people…”
Not because he lacked conviction—
but because he cared enough to connect.
He paid attention.
He adjusted.
He stepped into other people’s worlds.
Not to blend in—
but to build a bridge.
Here’s the shift:
A lot of us think spiritual impact starts with saying the right thing.
Paul shows us it often starts with understanding the right person.
As one author put it, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
And care is demonstrated through curiosity.
A relational explorer asks:
- What matters to you?
- What shaped you?
- What are you carrying right now?
Because when people feel understood,
they become open.
And when they become open,
truth has somewhere to land.
This week:
- Ask one more question than you normally would
- Hold your response a few seconds longer than feels natural
- Pay attention to what lights people up—or weighs them down
Questions:
- When do you tend to stop listening and start forming responses?
- What makes it hard for you to adapt to others?
- Who in your life feels difficult to understand right now?
- What would it look like to genuinely learn them this week?
Identity:
Because Christ stepped into our world, we step into the lives of others with humility, curiosity, and intentional love.
Sincerely in Christ,
Pastor Brad
