Love Your Neighbor

June 23, 2026.

Scripture: Luke 10:25–37
Jesus calls us to love our neighbor with mercy that moves toward real need.

Imagine This…

Imagine driving past a stalled car on the side of the road.

You notice it. You feel bad. You hope someone helps. But then you keep going.

That is the uncomfortable tension in the Good Samaritan story. The issue is not whether someone saw the need. They all saw it. The question is who was willing to move toward it.

What Is There to Learn?

Jesus does not define love as good intentions from a safe distance. He shows us mercy that crosses the road.

     
  1. Love Notices Real Need.

      The Samaritan did not look away. He saw the wounded man and allowed compassion to interrupt him.

  2. Love Moves Closer.

      Mercy is not passive. It steps toward pain, inconvenience, and relational responsibility.

  3. Love Becomes Tangible.

      The Samaritan gave time, attention, resources, and care. Biblical love becomes visible through action.

Bold Steps of Faith

     
  • Notice one need you might normally pass by.
    •  
  • Move toward one person with compassion.
    •  
  • Offer practical help, not just kind thoughts.
    •  
  • Follow up with someone who is hurting, lonely, overwhelmed, or spiritually searching.

The table reminds us that Jesus moved toward us in mercy. Now He sends us to move toward others with His hope.

“Lord, give me eyes to see real need, a heart moved by mercy, and courage to love my neighbor in practical ways.”
