James 1:22-27

Who You Move Toward

Spiritual maturity is often measured by what we know.

But Scripture measures it differently.

“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only…”

And then it gets specific:

Caring for the vulnerable.
Living with integrity.
Engaging real needs.

In other words:

➡️It’s not just what you believe—it’s who you move toward.

A selfless friend doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.
They move toward:

  • the overlooked
  •
  • the struggling
  •
  • the forgotten

Consistently. Quietly. Faithfully.

Because that’s exactly how God moved toward us.

This Week

  • Identify one person or group that is easy to overlook
  •
  • Take a step toward them in a practical way
  •
  • Commit to consistency, not just a one-time response

Key Insight

Spiritual maturity is revealed in the direction of your life—toward yourself, or toward others.

Questions to Consider

  1. Who do you naturally move toward—and who do you avoid?
  2.
  3. What does “doing the word” look like in your daily life?
  4.
  5. Where might God be inviting you to engage more consistently?
  6.
  7. What is one next step you can take this week?

Identity Statement

Because true devotion is expressed through love, we become people who consistently move toward others with Christ's care.

Kingdom Platform Application: Moving Toward the Vulnerable

Most people move toward comfort.

The gospel moves us toward need.

Kingdom Platform Move:
Adopt a consistent posture toward the vulnerable.

Where this plays out:

  • Church partnerships
      Crystal Women
    s Clinic, local outreach, etc.
  •
  • Neighborhood
Elderly neighbors, struggling families, isolated individuals
  •
  • Personal networks
Those navigating grief, hardship, or instability

Practical Example:
You commit—not just once—but consistently to walking alongside someone in need (mentoring, support, presence).

Why it matters:
Impact isn’t built on one-time moments—it’s built on consistent presence.

Your platform becomes a place where people experience Christ's care over time.

In His grace,

Pastor Brad.
