Sacrificing — Surrendering for God’s Call

November 30, 2025

The Call Beyond Comfort

Jesus never hid the cost of discipleship. He said, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)

Sacrifice isn’t about losing—it’s about living for something greater. When we release our grip on comfort and control, we make room for God’s calling to take root.

Core Concept

To sacrifice is to exchange our limited plans for God’s limitless purpose. True discipleship isn’t shaped by convenience but by surrender that says, “Lord, my life is Yours.”

Scriptural Anchors

“Whoever loses his life for me will save it.” — Luke 9:24

“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice.” — Romans 12:1

“I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” — Galatians 2:20

Why It Matters

Calling over Comfort – God’s plans often begin where our comfort ends.

Formation over Fulfillment – Sacrifice doesn’t just change our schedule; it shapes our soul.

Surrender over Self-Reliance – Real maturity is marked by letting go, not holding on.

Final Thought

At Oak Grove Church, we believe sacrifice is where maturity deepens and mission begins. As we learn to give up what we can’t keep, we gain what we can never lose—the joy of living fully surrendered to Christ.
