Week 1: Igniting Hope—Our Core Spark.
June 10, 2025.
A Missional Hope
Over the last nine months, a dedicated Clarity team has been hard at work behind the scenes—praying, dreaming, and wrestling with what Oak Grove is called to become next. Tonight, as we step into this season of change, we’re not simply tweaking a few phrases; we’re lighting a new spark. We hope that this brief series will spark a fresh conversation—one that begins with why we exist as a church family and concludes with how we’ll bring that purpose to life.
At the heart of everything we’re unveiling is one core idea: igniting hope. Real hope isn’t a passing feeling or a catchy slogan—it’s the confidence that Jesus is at work, even when life gets messy. Over the coming weeks, we’ll unpack what it means to carry that hope ourselves and then fan it into flame for others. If you’ve never heard about our new vision and mission, consider this your invitation to lean in, ask bold questions, and discover how God wants to use each of us to spark lasting hope in our community.
Hook: What if hope wasn’t just something we feel, but something we ignite in others?
Core Concept: To “ignite hope” means to pass along the confidence that God is at work—even when we can’t see the ending. This isn’t about wishful thinking; it’s anchored in the character of God Himself.
Scriptural Anchor:
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13
Why It Matters:
- Hope Is Contagious: When we carry joy and peace, others catch the spark.
- Hope Fuels Action: Confident expectation in God moves us from complacency to courageous service.
- Hope Survives Hardship: Unlike optimistic platitudes, the hope we ignite endures through storms because it rests on God’s promises.
Next Steps:
- Reflect: Spend two minutes each morning praying Romans 15:13 back to God, asking Him to fill you “so that you may overflow.”
- Spotlight: Notice one person today who seems discouraged; offer them a genuine word or text of encouragement.
- Share: Reply-all to one email thread this week with a short quote from Romans 15:13, and a one-sentence “why” it matters.
